COMPASSION EXERCISE

HONESTY WITH ONE’S SELF LEADS TO COMPASSION FOR OTHERS

OBJECTIVE: To increase the amount of compassion in the world
EXPECTED RESULTS: A personal sense of peace

INSTRUCTIONS: This exercise can be done anywhere that people congregate (airports,malls,parks,beaches etc.) It should be done on strangers, unobtrusively, from some distance. Try to do all five steps on the same person if you wish.

STEP 1 With attention on the person, repeat to yourself:
”JUST LIKE ME, THIS PERSON IS SEEKING SOME HAPPINESS FOR HIS/HER LIFE.”

STEP 2 With attention on the person, repeat to yourself:
“JUST LIKE ME, THIS PERSON IS TRYING TO AVOID SUFFERING IN HIS/HER LIFE.”

STEP 3 With attention on the person, repeat to yourself:
“JUST LIKE ME, THIS PERSON HAS KNOWN SADNESS, LONELINESS AND DESPAIR.”

STEP 4 With attention on the person, repeat to yourself:
“JUST LIKE ME, THIS PERSON IS SEEKING TO FULFILL HIS/HER NEEDS.”

STEP 5 With attention on the person, repeat to yourself:
“JUST LIKE ME, THIS PERSON IS LEARNING ABOUT LIFE.”

1.1.2009 – Keep On The Journey – The Time Is Ours…

Happy New Year to everyone , everywhere…

I Hope the New Year started in the right direction for everyone of you…
And I hope also that the same right direction might be kept steady in the coming year, we have so much in Front of Us Right Now , Time and Possibilities to make the best OUT OF IT.

My First day of the Year started very interestingly… After having finished my early meditation-yoga practice ( i slept bit longer than usual cause out with friends on a raw-dinner) i set up for a walk along the beach, and was captured by the harmonious tone of a string instrument , the BOUZOUKI , echoing harmonious melodies from a luxurious apartment on the beach.

My curiosity took my to the place where i met a (interesting) man in his sixties , sitting on the chair and playing the instrument in the open veranda. After introducing myself and asking him to possibly record few seconds on my camera of his melodies he asked me , with strong Greek Accent, if i’m a photographer on which i responded , well yeas, kind of, an artist, i play guitar too he-he… It didnt took long time to understand each other -being on the same wavelenght- and so he asked me to join him for a NEW YEAR JAM SESSION…!

So walking back to my apartment where I’m living (i’m sharing house with people who love music too!) i took guitar, harmonica and my portable audio recorder to record some songs and join him for a Jam Session…!

I must admit, having not played for quiet long time with technical musicians, and considering myself being a very non-technical musician!, i felt bit embarrassed following him on his electrical 12/12 blues style… Yet when playing ‘my style’ on other side more synergy build up to create a nice atmosphere accompanied by his sweet melodies on the bouzouki…

Below i have one sample of the recordings of New Ground, a song i wrote here in Australia and which i use to play in different versions with different instruments (i’m working on the piano version)…

This is the one i recorded with my Greek Friend on 1/1/09…

The audio quality is not at the best, nevertheless i just wanted to share it here…

The End is the Beginning of the New, Its not The End…

”In a few hours it will be New Year, and tomorrow when you speak
about today you will already be saying ‘last year’. Up until
twenty-three hours, fifty-nine minutes and fifty-nine seconds,
it will be ‘this year’, and as midnight strikes the new year
will begin. One second, just one second, separates one year from
the next! But there you are – you have to get to the last second.
You have to pass through all the days of a year one after another
to reach this last second.
Well, you should realize that this is how man’s spiritual
transformation takes place. In an instant he is totally renewed,
regenerated. But it will have taken centuries and centuries of
effort to arrive at this final moment. As with the old year, you
will say of the period preceding this moment of regeneration, ‘It
was the old life’, and as with the new year you will say of the
new period that’s dawning, ‘This is the new life’. How long will
you have to wait before you reach this final second? Don’t worry
about it; it will come for each and every person. So be patient;
you have to know how to wait, but while you wait you must work.”
