With What You Have
So we’ve been contemplating the idea of expanding this little backyard garden in the last weeks since i moved in…
and today we did it!
There are some basic points one should take in consideration when willing to start growing more food at home, and very easy ones…
1. you dont have to be an experienced gardener, but more of a good observer.
therefore sit down quietly in your backyard on a sunny day and observe the space around you, do it for several days (whilst eating some fresh organic fruit why not!) and start making improvements when you are clear about it, doing it gradually…
2. ask: how can I utilize TO THE BEST what I already Have…
ie. what can I change and how can I utilize it for a optimal function
(space, tools, material, arrangement, systems) RIGHT NOW with WHAT I HAVE without big investments you know…!!
This is the First Step of the Adventure one always has to keep in mind before even planning: to learn to observe Nature and Patterns and be inspired by her to improve ‘what you already have’ ‘with what you already have’… so easy hey, sometimes hard to keep it simple!!
As you will go ahead keeping always an Eye and Ear Open to ‘observe’ and ‘study’ the impact left behind in the World of Plant, Animal and All Living Environment (you have to be conscious of it hey – this is Free Meditation Practice!), you will undoubtly receive and notice a ‘feed-back’ that will tell you how to improve, simplify, design further your Vision , those using a minimal need of resources and energy as possible, like Nature does!
In two-three years generally speaking , what you want to achieve, is to create a System that is to a 90-95% self-generating and self-sufficient, and therefore requires a minimal human intervention…, because founded on self-regulating Systems… can you Imagine??
This are basic guidelines and a description to what the term ‘Permaculture’ -coined by the two Words PERMANENT and CULTURE- does really mean and offer US.
Maximal Yield with Minimal Intervention… = A PARADISE for Lazy Bugger like you and me!
We live in a World of Problems that make up the Solutions really…
All We need is to Step back for A Moment and See What can be done…, like in Our Garden
Why the need of ‘stimulus packages’ and such enormous horrible quantities of (unexisting) Money to be spent in a System that is Unsustainable and Corrupted in Its Very Basic Structure? Why dont improve the Structure itself instead of Feeding more Wood to the Burning Fire?
All we have to do , is to step back for while and sit quiet resting our busy minds from this wasteful systems…, we can do it every-time and every-where in the world by improving our surroundings with the ‘CHANGE WHAT YOU HAVE with WHAT YOU HAVE Attitude”,
This beginning in our Own Lifes adopting a Diet high in Fresh Fruit and Vegetables, in Our Backyards growing food, in Our Communities coming together to share knowledge and support each other in groups, and then on a Regional to a National Scale to shift GLOBAL and PLANETARY Paradigms once for ALL… Really Easy hey… Why Waiting?
Here a few shots of the Progress we’ve achieved today!
The Space around already looks much more happy and vibrant already!
